A Special Note from Jonathan
I'm taking a break from the normal format of our EZINE this week, skipping the bright colors,
titles and pictures to just share two things with you... each are worth your next thirty seconds:
1. This is the last week for the Heap Contest. Bottom line: we are giving away some very
cool prizes to any youth worker (volunteer or paid) who drives a junky car. This is as simple as
it gets. If you haven't seen what we're giving away, take a peek
HERE (and check out
a few of the entries we've
posted so far). The first place prize, a free pass to a Youth Specialties
National Youth Workers
Convention, is just a start... there is much more to win. This Friday night is the cut
off and, as always, it's completely free to
enter.
2. For those of you who don't drive a hideous heap, I wanted to invite you to the youth ministry
conference I just mentioned above. Yes, I know that many of you don't have large budgets-that's
why you like our web site so much-we supply you with fresh ideas and resources each week
for free. But, every once in a while, I point you in the direction of certain
resources or training opportunities of value. The Youth Specialties
National Youth Workers
Convention is one of those training opportunities that you don't want to miss. It's in
four different U.S. locations this year and has more bands, speakers, and training workshops that
you can even imagine. I'm
training at
the Austin convention, doing two workshops:
- Reaching Out to Unchurched Teenagers: Do They Run When They See You Coming? Based
on Jonathan's hit book, this
training will help you get into the mind of the unchurched teen and look at your ministry
more objectively so you can see what you need to do to proactively reach students who aren't
making it to church.
- Getting Students to Show Up: Programming Outreach Events for 10 to 10,000. Based
on Jonathan's forthcoming book from YS, this training will challenge you to rethink your
methodology when it comes to outreach. But more than that, you'll be shown, step-by-step,
how to plan and execute a great outreach event whether it's geared for 10 or 10,000 students!
If you're hosting a city-wide event or a weekly event for your church or a local campus,
you'll receive plenty of tips and tools that will ensure you offer an event that actually
reaches out and points people toward Jesus.
For those of you who are considering a training experience for you and your staff, take a few
seconds to look at all this convention offers. It's one you don't want to miss:

Thanks for your ministry. Keep up the good work!
